Environmental Responsibility
We Care.Although the technology used in making the Cherry Blossom range has moved on considerably since its humble beginnings in 1906, the company has not lost sight of its responsibilities to the environment.
In 2006 Cherry Blossom achieved ISO9001 and ISO14001, The Environmental Management Standard – independent confirmation that our products and processes conform to the highest environmental principles and in 2007 achieving certification with the British Retail Consortium.
We have also introduced other initiatives to underline our commitment in this sphere:
- We use 100% recycled card for our outer boxes and all waste card is recycled
- All cartons, card board boxes, bottles, lids, caps, tubes and spray heads that come into the site and are suitable for recycling are recycled. This means that we now save 80% of waste that would normally go into landfill – the equivalent of 4 skips per week.
- We have converted all our internal paper use over to 100% recycled paper that is bleach free made from post consumer waste; saving 79.4 ltrs of water, 16.3kWh of electricity and 7.5kg of virgin wood per ream.
- Valuable energy saving initiatives are also employed in our offices with lights only turning on when someone enters the room and automatically turning themselves off when the room is empty
- Water saving devices conserve 30,000 litres of water p.a.
- In 2008 we formed a partnership with The Woodland Trust, providing the funds for 500 schools to plant 25,000 trees
